for Erin
Lately, I have been pretty busy. I've been trying to minimize my time on the computer and spend more time with the kids as well as taking care of the house. I'm definitely not juggling it perfectly, but the house is cleanER and the kids are happiER. Any improvement feels better. Anyway, below is a list of info to catch you all up on what's going on in the Monahan household.
1) the kids made a disaster of their room the other day. They poked a large hole in one of their stuffed animals and it exploded all over the room and them. It was a black stuffed Mogu dog from Japan and it was filled with little tiny white styrofoam balls (that stick like static cling). Of course this all happened in the three minutes I was on the telephone, and when I found them, they had managed to get it everywhere. Jane even tried to mop it up with a sopping wet wash cloth from the bathroom (which explains the little white thingies in the sink!). It took me 45 minutes to vacuum it up. I'm thankful that Clara likes the vacuum. Here are a few pics.
2) Yea! Matt has moved his things out of my kitchen! Over spring break, he made a lot of headway on the basement, so now my kitchen is seriously decluttered. He just needs to finish the basement steps and he'll have a nice dry cave all to himself.
3) Clara is trying to roll over and she's beginning to be a much happier baby. I'm not really getting much sleep yet, but we're working on it.
4) There's about a month left of school and Matt won't be working at CCS anymore. It will be quite a change, for him and for us. Matt loves his job and it will be hard for him to leave his colleagues and students. We're really encouraged by his current job prospects, but it will still be a bit of a change.
5) I'm still feeling cooped up and a little lonely, but I'm trying to see the big picture. Reading Andy Mendonza's blog has really helped me to keep it all in perspective. My kids are only little once and even then, each day I have with them is a gift, not a promise. I'm embarrassed at my lack of enthusiasm for the kids some days. Right now, I'm trying to savor my time with them as much as I would savor some alone time or a really good book.

Thanks Karen! To think...I went 12 days with no new posting on your blog. Just when I was starting to count on My House Is A Mess to give me my daily dose of good humor and perspective. I will return to my morning routine of toast, seame street, cafe au lait and checking Karen's blog. Your faithful blog follower, Erin.
